Londinium was a Roman port city established in the mid-1st century CE on the north bank of the River Thames, approximately where the City of London now stands. Founded during the reign of Claudius, it developed rapidly as a mercantile hub, serving as a point of exchange between Britain and continental Europe. The settlement was razed during the Iceni uprising led by Boudica around 60โ61 CE, but was subsequently rebuilt and expanded into one of Britain's largest Roman cities ...
