⛱️ Navagio Beach / Smuggler's Cove
Coastal beach in Zakynthos, Greece, featuring a shipwreck and accessible only by boat
Navagio Beach is a coastal beach in Zakynthos, Greece, that is accessible only by boat due to 200-metre limestone cliffs. The beach gained international recognition following the 1980 grounding of the cargo ship MV Panagiotis, whose deteriorating hull remains visible on the sand and has become the beach's defining landmark. As of 2026, the beach remains a protected marine reserve with restricted visitor access implemented to manage environmental pressure from high seasonal traffic. The site was inscribed as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage component within Zakynthos's broader natural and cultural landscape recognition.
