Wunu Mountain City is an ancient fortified settlement in Ji'an, Jilin Province, that served as the first capital of the Koguryo Kingdom. Established in 37 BCE, the site represents one of the earliest urban centers of a powerful regional kingdom that controlled much of Northeast Asia from the 1st century BCE to the 7th century CE. The city remains part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site recognizing Koguryo's cultural and historical significance. Archaeological investigations have documented substantial defensive infrastructure and administrative structures within the site.
