Pont du Gard is a three-tiered aqueduct bridge in southern France that carried fresh water across the Gardon River to the Roman city of Nîmes. Constructed around 50 AD without mortar, the structure comprises 6 large arches at the base, 11 medium arches in the middle tier, and 35 smaller arches at the top, all assembled from precisely cut limestone blocks.
